Skin — A Tray Series Made of Bark
Skin, a tray series, explores the potential of bark by revealing its textures and transformations through the ancient tradition of bark cloth craftsmanship.
Each tray is shaped from the Taiwanese Paper Mulberry tree, with age determining both form and character. When the fibrous inner layers are hammered, young bark turns pure white, while older bark deepens into a warm, light brown.
Like human skin, bark carries the memory of life. Some surfaces remain tender and delicate, while others grow rugged and strong. Together, these diverse expressions embody nature’s stories of growth, resilience, and time.
